STARTING A NEW SERVICE
New Member – Service at a Location Without a Meter
Apply to establish electric service at a location that does not currently have a meter.
- Complete the Membership Application and submit it by emailing it to info@dakotaenergy.coop or by bringing it to a Dakota Energy office.
- Complete the New Construction Service Form and submit it by email or in person.
- A deposit may be required and can be paid by cash, check or money order.
- All new accounts require a completed application with a signature.
Our offices are located at 40294 US Highway 14, Huron or 1003 N Broadway Ave, Miller. Walk-in office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Existing Member – Service at a Location with an Existing Meter
Apply for electric service at a location where electric service or a meter already exists.
- Complete the New Construction Service Form and submit it by emailing it to info@dakotaenergy.coop or by bringing it to a Dakota Energy office.
- A deposit may be required and can be paid by cash, check or money order.
- All new accounts require a completed application with a signature.

Call Before You Dig – It's the Law!
Call 811 to know what’s below.
Before starting any excavation or digging project, you must contact South Dakota One Call by calling 811 or 800-781-7474. This free call helps prevent injuries, service disruptions, and costly utility damage caused by hitting buried lines.
Dakota Energy will mark its buried electric lines up to the electric service meter at no charge. Any lines beyond the meter are considered private facilities and must be located by the property owner.
Dakota Energy Cooperative can locate private power lines for homeowners. To request a locate, please contact Member Services at 605-352-8591.
Advance Notice:
At least 48 hours, excluding weekends and holidays, before digging begins
Marks Valid:
14 calendar days, per state law or standard practice
