CALL BEFORE YOU DIG. IT'S THE LAW!

Call 811 to Know What’s Below!

Just make one simple, free call to have your utility lines marked, helping protect you from injury and costly damage caused by accidentally hitting buried utility cables. Remember, 811 is a federally mandated national Call Before You Dig number designed to prevent confusion.

Whether you are a professional excavator or a do-it-yourself homeowner, you need to call 811 or (800) 781-7474 every time before you start an excavation or digging project. One phone call to 811 quickly and easily begins the process of locating and marking the underground utility lines near your digging project. Calling 811 before you dig helps protect you from injury, expensive damage to utility infrastructure, and penalties.

Dakota Energy Cooperative will mark its buried electric lines up to the electric service meter for FREE! From that point on, the power lines are considered private facilities and must be located by the property owner.

Dakota Energy Cooperative will locate private power lines for the homeowner. If you need your private power lines located, please call our Member Services Department at (605) 352-8591 to request a locate.
