Hand County 4-H Club extension cords

On July 19th Dakota Energy’s Member Service Representative Greg Palmer instructed ten Hand County 4-H members how to build an extension cord.

First, Greg reviewed the safety procedures of working around electricity and why it is so important to follow them. He also instructed on the process of making the extension cords:
• Stripping the outer insulation on the cord
• Stripping the inner insulation from the copper wire
• Making and inspecting the connections to the cord ends
• Putting the plugs on the ends
Each cord was then tested to make sure the other end would work. All ten were a success! The kids can enter the extension cords as an electric project at achievement days. Excellent job kids!
